The New York subway system is facing a new paint pen shortage.
A city spokesperson told ABC News the company has decided to build a larger pen to keep up with the demand.
“Our new Pencils will be used for painting the New Jersey Turnpike, the New Orleans MetroRail system and other locations in the city,” the spokesperson said.
The company’s decision comes after a major upgrade to the subway system.
The subway has been underfunded and overburdened by maintenance for the past several years.
The subway was shut down in January after a devastating earthquake, and it has been plagued by maintenance issues, including corrosion and mold issues.
