The artist known for his colorful paintings has won the first competition in New Mexico.
Johnson Pollock’s Paintings won the Paintings of the Year at the annual Paintings Of The Year event on Thursday night.
The painting will be exhibited in Albuquerque on Saturday, according to the Albuquerque Journal.
Paintings of The Year was founded in 1987 by Pollock, whose works have sold over 3 million copies.
The event also honors artists who have inspired the art of others, with a list of the Top 10 Most Influential Artists of All Time.
The Albuquerque-based artist has received a slew of accolades, including being named a Pulitzer Prize finalist for his work in The Last Unicorn.
The award was given to Pollock for his innovative approach to painting, and for his use of color and light.
